London Supported Lodgings Scheme Launched

London Supported Lodgings Scheme Launched

The London Boroughs of Lewisham and Enfield are the first to pioneer the Depaul UK Supported Lodgings London scheme which will see Depaul UK recruit, train and support households in the area to provide lodgings for vulnerable young people.

This is a radical and effective response to the lack of affordable safe housing in London for young people who are not yet confident to live completely independently. Depaul UK is asking local people who have room in their lives and homes to take in a young lodger so that their first experience of living independently is within the home of a friendly household who they can call upon when they need a listening ear or someone to pass on a favorite recipe. The young people have a youth worker from Depaul UK who they see regularly. Hosts recieve payment from the local authority for rent as well as regular supervision and access to a dedicated 24hour support line.
