Bratislava nightshelter gets new roof
Depaul Slovensko's 180-bed St Vincent's nightshelter has been re-roofed, in time for the coldest part of the winter. Already is has made a huge difference to raising the temperature within the building itself. This work is part of Phase 1 of an ambitious refurbishment plan which will eventually see the large warehouse building, close to the airport, fit to provide a much higher quality of care for homeless people.
We are launching a capital campaign in 2012 to raise sufficient funds to complete Phase 2, which includes putting in a mezzanine floor. renewing the shower/toilet facilities, upgrading the kitchen, and re-modelling the sleeping areas. The nightshelter will still have the capacity for 200 to sleep there in the coldest weather but also allow it to operate as a day centre for large numbers of homeless people.
